One Simple Trick to Give You the Productive Edge

Productive tips

There are few things more exhilarating than getting out on your own for the first time in your life. Except, maybe, for discovering your ability to make money through your new student business venture. It’s fantastic! So much so that the continued persist of success can become all consuming, which is not great if you’re studying for a meaningful qualification.
You can see it with some people who really get their teeth into something. They pour hours into their venture ordering fast food only when their hunger is overwhelming. They drink gallons of soda, or coffee to keep them pumped. Sleep becomes a distant memory until suddenly, everything shuts down and they crash.
For several days, or even weeks, productivity is a thing of the past. The trouble with this situation is that life doesn’t just stop. Papers still have to be written, class still has to be attended and customers need to be satisfied.
So, how to keep your balance when your student business is taking off?
  1. Eat properly.
  2. Eat regularly.
  3. Drink water.
That’s obvious right?
You’d be surprised at how easy it is to let it all slide when you’re busy with School and you’re making money. Once you’ve started to see the income streams flow, the urge to build on them can be overwhelming. And that’s a great place to be. The one problem is that this income doesn’t come for free. It comes from customers and customers need satisfying. To do that, as a business owner, you have to be productive.

Productivity relies on one thing: good glucose levels in your brain. There are two ways of keeping your glucose levels up: sugar based foods and whole foods. The difference between these two food groups is that the sugar based food will give you a hit for around twenty minutes before ferrying everything south for storage around your waistline. Whole foods, on the other hand, will convert into glucose over a much longer period of time, keeping you full and able to concentrate for longer.
So, which whole foods should you be eating?

Anything that is sold in its natural state – fruit that are picked, vegetables that have been dug up, etc – or anything that was alive – meat, fish, etc.

All of these foods will sustain your body and mind throughout your days, weeks and semesters as you work on your business, complete papers and learn everything necessary to pass your course. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to become an unbearable food guru who refuses to join friends for a meal because of what might be on the plate. Eat fast and processed foods if you want to. Just don’t eat them that often because it will reduce your ability to concentrate for long periods.

The final thing to consider is that more and more, small business owners, both student and professional, are the faces of their enterprises. In our ever more social world, people are as interested in who runs the business and what they believe in as the products they are selling. Good eating habits are a small but important part of other good professional habits that lead to sustained success.

5 Things You Should Avoid in A Job Interview

Things You Should Avoid in A Job Interview

Attending a job can be a nerve-racking experience which most of us are of glad once it has finished. The key to whether you succeed or not is often based upon the level of preparation and forethought that goes into the interview process. You can’t predict with any great certainty how the interview will go but there are some things which can be avoided that might lessen your chances of getting the job.

Interrupting the questioner

You maybe so keen to put your answers and opinions over that you end up interrupting the questioner, especially if they are explaining something to you in detail. Whilst this maybe appropriate in some instances, if done repeatedly it is likely to irritate the person asking the questions. You should get your chance to speak so do be patient.

Bad mouthing your previous employer

If you are attending a job interview with a potential new employer then it will be quite obvious to them that you wish to leave your current employer (unless you have been made redundant of course). Therefore bad mouthing your past employer or colleagues is not likely to curry favour with the person conducting the interview, especially if you worked in your previous role over a long period of time. They may rightly raise the question…”well….if they are so bad why did you stay with them for so long?”

Don’t be disingenuous

Not being straight with people about your past experiences, remuneration or qualifications is to be avoided as it can be grounds for dismissal if you are offered the job and then something you said subsequently turns out to be false. That is not to say you shouldn’t ‘big yourself up’ and make what you did sound as important as possible, just don’t over step the line. Untruths over salary can be easily picked up if the company interviewing you does background checks with past employer (s).

Avoid jokes and bad language

Although you might think cracking the odd joke will lighten the mood, you can never know in advance what someone’s sense of humour is like, or even if they have one at all. What you may find funny another person may find offensive. Bad language is almost always inappropriate at an interview so avoid it, even if the interviewer uses it.

Careful what you reveal about your personal life

Here you need to strike a balance between ensuring that the person interviewing you can see you are a polite, affable human being and revealing so much they feel the interview has descended into a cosy chat in the bar. If something is relevant to the role then say it, for example, if you say I recently got married and it made me focus on progressing my career then that is fine, it shows ambition. If however you say your partner has been ‘on at you’ to get a higher paying job then this will be seen as a negative.

How To Write A Good Criminal Justice Thesis For MA

Nothing to Write?
Whatever be the area of study (be it forensic science, law enforcement or legal studies), the criminal justice students, if they really want to earn their Master of Arts degree, are expected to complete their thesis in a timely manner. However, the problem is that a majority of the criminal justice students are often clueless about what topic to explore for their thesis! Now, if you too claim of having drilled your brain for thesis ideas without success, then here are some guidelines on how to write a good criminal justice thesis for your master’s program.
Note:If you think thesis-writing is too strenuous for you, then do apply for the alternative “non-thesis option”, the provision of which is available in almost any criminal justice universities.
Tips For Graduate Level M.A. Students At Writing A Good Criminal Justice Thesis:–

1. Seek The Aid Of Your Criminal Justice Professors Out What Topic Interests You the Most!

With such a diverse field of criminal justice, it ought not to be difficult for criminal justice students to find an appropriate thesis topic that is up to their interest as well as meets the requirements of their respective master’s program. Anyways, if you are in dire need of guidance and some inspiration, then you may seek a discussion with your professors or committee chair.
These criminal justice faculty members, being scholars of their art, can indeed help you fish out some tasty thesis topic or even help modify the topic of your choice to make your research more eventful.
Popular Topics For Criminal Justice M.A Thesis:–
Death Penalty (Should it be enacted or eradicated?)
Police Actions (Debates regarding the search & seize policies)
Racial Profiling (Is it a good law enforcement technique?)
Marijuana Trade (Should it be legalized?)

2. Accumulate Relevant Information For Your Research Work From Various Sources!

Once you have figured out a thesis topic, then it’s time you begin your research. First of all, you need to acquire a general knowledge of the topic you are exploring.
Textbooks and internet sources would be the ideal way to gain an overview of your thesis field, which, you will come to understand, does not only encompass criminal justice aspect but may also overlap other academic aspects as that of psychology & sociology.

3. Collaborating With Your criminal Justice Faculty Members To Write A Defendable Thesis!

Although the main theme of thesis-writing is to reflect back your creativity and interest in the field, it might be a folly to believe that you can complete your thesis on your own.
After all, thesis, albeit being heralded as the original work of individual students, represents a collaboration work between the fledgling students and the learned faculty members. Hence, during the course of your thesis preparation, feel free to take the counsel of your mentors. And, mind you, just writing a thesis is not adequate; you have to defend it too!

Designing an Effective Presentation

Noneffective Presentation looks like this
If you’re anything like I was in school, you may approach presentations with something like mortal dread.  Sure, it’s all fun and games (or not entirely unpleasant, at the very least) while you’re doing your research and jotting down your notes and observations, but then you have to—gasp!—actually deliver something?  You have to organize all this material you’ve come up with and reach a conclusion?  And worse still, it has to all flow together and make sense?  And not just to your classmates but to your teacher, someone who actually gets paid to understand this stuff?  How on Earth can they expect you to accomplish all that?
Relax.  Take a deep breath.  I went down those roads many times before and lived to tell the tale.  Creating a presentation isn’t as overwhelming as you may feel.  You’ll need to do your share of thinking and planning, of course, but it honestly does break down rather simply.

Develop a Strong Central Idea

For starters, put yourself in the position of an audience member viewing your presentation.  Ask yourself, “If there were just one idea or point that I should take away from this, what would it be?”  Once you’ve answered that question, you’ve found the foundation for your presentation.
Some of you may remark here that you’ve been told to do the same thing when you’re coming up with a thesis for a paper.  I’m glad if you have, and that leads me to another piece of advice: think of your presentation in the same way that you would an essay or research paper.  By that, I mean that you should arrange your information under the banner of a central point.

Keep It Simple

Once you’ve established that central point and are organizing your information, take a carving knife to that information.  Leave out any redundancies or anything that’s irrelevant to the point you’re trying to make.  This does not mean leaving out something that refutes or contradicts your main idea; if a big chunk of your research or observations don’t support it, you might want to rework your idea so that it integrates more of what you’ve found.  Instead, strip everything down to its absolute essentials and present only that information.

Substance Over Style

You should apply a wise austerity not just to the “what” of your presentation but to the “how.”  Avoid flashy graphics, ornate texts and anything else that might get in the way of your information.  Make your presentation as clean and plain as you possibly can.  I will add the caveat here that, depending on the subject matter and the teacher, if you can work in some little personal touch—if you can come up with some unique way of conveying your information that renders your presentation more memorable and enjoyable—go for it.  Above all, however, make sure that you don’t play your audience for saps.  Don’t think that embroidery or bells and whistles will distract people from a poorly researched piece of work.

James Cagney once gave the following advice on acting: “Learn your lines, find your mark, look ‘em in the eye and tell ‘em the truth.”  You should approach presentations in a similar fashion: do your research, find your main point, get that down and put it out there for your audience.

Benefits of Cloud Computing For Students

Cloud computing was initially developed for the business benefits. But with the evolving technology, its advantages have been realized by other fields as well. As a result, clouds are readily installed and used in schools. This technology has provided the necessary alternative to the brick and motor schooling. It facilitated the students with an opportunity to interact with their ever increasing group of peers irrespective of their geographical locations. Though cloud computing might readily prove to be cheaper and advantageous for the school authorities, but let us discuss how it benefits the students: -
  • Learning Environment: - The cloud computing expands the student’s learning environment beyond the classroom doors. It facilitates students with the virtual classes within their home environment. The school administration can effectively manage the load on support staff by the use of clouds. The students can be provided with three days classes in schools and two days of virtual classes which they can take anywhere. The schools which do not even advocate the virtual classrooms can use cloud computing to enhance the class’s learning experience. As with the audio-visual aids, the students can retain the knowledge for longer.
  • Group projects: - Students can use cloud computing to complete the group projects assigned to them without being physically together. They can work on shared sheets and complete their work from the comforts of their home. In addition, the students can complete their home-works and submit the file to their teacher, thus avoiding any possibility of forgetting their home works at home.
  • Virtual access to the teachers: - A public school student avails the facility of a teacher for an average of 5 hours in a week. And that time is also divided amongst 60 other students in the class. But with cloud computing, they can clear their doubts by putting their queries online. Thus, an efficient problem solving duly helps them to study effectively which reflects in their improved grades.
  • Easy access to notes: - Teachers can upload their class notes and the students can consult when ever they want to. In the usual class room structure, the students had to wait for the teacher’s class to get their doubts cleared or to consult the subject notes. But with the help of cloud computing, the students can structure their learning process as per their capacity and capability without being bothered about advancing or lagging behind the class course.
  •  Higher education: - Another benefit of cloud computing is for the higher education. Many universities cannot provide the students with modern hardware and software amenities, but with the help of cloud computing such universities can easily overcome this drawback. The students can avail the facilities like latest technologies and can even work on the available simulators to have a good understanding of the subject.

Cloud computing is equally beneficial for the school authorities and students. As students can avail the technological facilities like never before, the authorities no longer have to bother about the up gradation of the soft-wares they use, thus solely focusing on effective teaching. Some universities have the tie-ups with the business firms which facilitates the students with an access to their clouds and surf for the required information. For e.g. a relocation service called Man and Van, provides the university student with an access to their cloud, thus facilitating them with the regular updates on effective logistics and relocation services etc.

How To Study And Prepare For A Driving Theory Test

Taking a driving test to get a driver's license can be an exciting and daunting experience for many adolescents. Although passing this test can be very simple for some, but it is vital that you study before you take a driving test. Below are ways on how you can master the brass tacks of driving and pass a driving theory test:

Take A Mock Tests
Taking a mock driving theory test is essential if you are very much eager to pass the test.  It does not only provide you the experience of how was it like to take the test, but it also give you the chance to get acquainted  with the possible questions that could appear in the exam and the answers that go with them. Passing a mock test also help you acquire confidence that you can really pass the real test.

Buy Theory Test Book
Purchasing a theory test book is also necessary if you really want to pass the test. The book encloses all the information that you need to study and get familiarized with to learn the basic of driving. Read the book many times as possible until you have memorized all the information that you need to learn.

Spend Time Driving
Some people prefer passing the test first before they begin to drive on the road, but many students choose to have some experience of driving prior to taking your theory test. Driving on the road on your own gives you a personal experience to some circumstances you will face as you take the test. Your own experience will help you analyze and give a proper judgment call once you encounter the same situation in your examination.

Do Not Rush
It is graspable that due to your nervousness you want to finish the test as fast as possible. But then, rushing will not help you pass the test, instead it may front you to problems such as misreading the questions or the multiple choice answers that could lead you to the wrong answers. Taking time to read and understand the question and all the choices meticulously allows you to give yourself sufficient time to think about the corresponding answers to all the questions.

How to Find the Best Deals on Distance Education

How to Find the Best Deals on Distance Education
The internet has changed the way that we look for education and the way that we also obtain our education, allowing us to study through distance education and online education to get the education that is needed in order to succeed.
Shopping around for the best courses at a price that you can afford is the first step to planning out your education.  When looking for the best deals on distance education, take a methodical approach to locating a course or program of study available through distance education.

What Do You Want/Need to Study
This obviously the first step and may come out of interest or necessity.  For some people, upgrading education may be a requirement to progress in their career and there aren’t many options, yet for others who are taking more out of interest or passion, choosing what to study is step number one.  Some courses offered through distance education are full programs that will give you a degree or certification while others are single courses that may help you with a certain topic that you need to learn more about.

Where to Find Distance Education Courses
Unfortunately finding good quality distance education courses online isn’t easy, at least when you want to compare a few.  Diploma mills and low quality educational institutions litter the internet and make it hard to choose between good quality and poor quality distance education courses.
Below are a number of websites that will help you wade through the various programs and courses offered, giving you the information that you need to make an informed decision.

SchoolFinder.com – This comprehensive website displays courses available through distance education in an easy to read format.  You simply choose whether you are looking for University, College or Private Career College and number of courses are presented and then sorted by school name, location and price range.  Comparing price ranges is a nice option because it allows you to see schools that you definitely cannot afford right away so you don’t waste time on them.
Another nice option with SchoolFinder.com is that they also allow you to choose between schools in Canada, the United States or elsewhere.  While some courses will need to be taken on the locale that you plan to use them, other courses are general in nature and can diplomas or degrees can be obtained anywhere it’s convenient and inexpensive for you take them.

CVU-UVC.ca – This is yet another resource, called Canadian Virtual University that gives users the ability to see Distance Education courses available throughout Canada all in one place.  This website is a collection of links to the various schools listed, which saves you from having to go to every school website to get information.

A Final Word
Locating a distance education course that works for your situation and your budget is what is most important.  Don’t rule out more expensive courses because sometimes they offer something that other less expensive courses don’t, but at the same time, don’t rule out inexpensive courses as they may have what you need.  Do your research and ensure that you are comparing “apples to apples” when looking at the various schools and institutions, that way you will be able to spot a good deal.
What are the most important things that you look for when choosing a distance education program?

Things To Remember While Buying Rare Books

People who are interested in buying rare books may find out that it is a thrilling but complicated process. You have to consider a lot of factors while buying rare books. The market for rare books is wide, but there are not many retailers who deal with genuine and authentic rare books. Therefore, it is always difficult to find a rare book at the right price. However, there are some simple steps which you should follow in order to buy rare books at an economical price. In this article, we will tell you about such steps and some things which you should consider while buying rare books.

Things To Consider When You Buy Rare Books

1) The first step is to gather all the information about the book you want. You should gather information about the book’s publisher, year of print, author, different editions and other important things. Moreover, you should also look for some websites which have rare books for sale. Most of these websites sell rare books at economical prices. When you buy rare books from a brick and mortar store, you may end up paying a high price. Online stores do not have to spend much as management costs and therefore, they can provide some good discounts.

2) You should search the Internet and gather more information about the book you want to buy. You can even visit some auction sites and check if they are auctioning some books of your choice. Internet is the greatest source of information these days. Most of the websites selling rare books also provide you with extra information which you may not have received in a brick and mortar store. However, you should check only reliable sources and make sure that the information you get is reliable and credible.

3) There are certain terms which mean a specific thing when you are talking about a book. You should learn some of these terms before you go ahead and buy a rare book. For example, mint and excellent have very specific meanings when it comes to buying books. The size of a book and its binding also determine the price of a rare book. Make sure you have all the knowledge so that you can evaluate a right price.

4) Most of the book sellers are experts on rare books. Therefore, you should contact them directly and ask for some guidance. Moreover, people selling books also like to talk about them. Hence, they will not have a problem if you need some information. Make sure you ask about everything and there are no doubts in your mind before buying a rare book.

5) If you visit a website which has leather bound books, make sure you look at all the pictures of the book. You should make sure that there are no damages and the book is in good condition. Any sort of damages from insects or molds can decrease the value of the book. Therefore, you should check the condition of the book before buying it.

Tips to avoid college weight gain

college weight gain
Many high school students experience a lot of changes when they step into college for the first time. There are numerous changes students undergo but one of the change they’re least prepared for is the Freshman 15. The Freshman 15 is the weight gain students experience during their first year in college—which is approximately 15 lbs but the actual average weight gain is around 5 lbs. Many factors contribute to a freshman’s weight gain including:
  • Not eating enough healthy foods
  • Not enough sleep
  • Overstress
  • Little to no exercise
  • Lack of exercise
  • Midnight snacks
  • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol
  • Eating junk food while studying late at night
  • Studying with friends while eating unhealthy foods
For most young adults, college life is their first time to make decisions for themselves which include their daily diet. Meals-on-the-go is often a college student’s best way of having a meal while having enough time to prepare for going to a class. It’s a big lifestyle change from when mom used to cook their meals for them. Regardless of these lifestyle changes, you can avoid the Freshman 15 by practicing simple healthy habits from the very beginning of college life.

college weight gain
1. Have a schedule One of the most important things a college student needs to learn about life is having a schedule that reflects their priorities in life. If being healthy is a priority, then it has to be seen on one’s schedule. You either need to have enough time to prepare healthy meals daily or you need to have time to get the healthiest meals you can afford in your area. You cannot let the tyranny of the urgent decide for you which meals you can eat and just grab anything in sight. This can become a very bad habit if not addressed immediately. You can also schedule many if not all your classes so that you can walk from one class to the other without being late. Walking will ensure that you burn the food you eat quickly and keep you from gaining unnecessary pounds.  Give enough time to finish your projects to avoid having to cram and sleep late which causes you to eat more. This will give you enough time to rest and sleep every night.

2. Prepare healthy snacks A high-protein snack to munch on when you feel hungry can keep you from craving junk foods. Much of a college student’s weight gain can be attributed to junk food eaten in-between meals and after meals.

3. Have a healthy breakfast Take a high-fiber, low-fat, high-protein breakfast that keeps your energy high for the first part of your day and also helps in your digestion. A good breakfast can keep your body from being sluggish and helps you avoid grabbing just about anything you set your eyes on before lunch.

4. Exercise with a buddy or a group Exercise can be boring when you do it alone. But working out with a buddy or a group of friends can be fun and helpful. Look for other students that want to join you in your fight to stay away from the Freshman 15. Having at least one person exercise with you will keep you from laziness. Make it more fun by competing with one another as to who weighs less after a number of weeks.

5. Closely monitor your portion sizes Most students don’t realize that the extra serving they order every so often builds up to extra weight gain in the long run. You need to watch how much you eat every meal and make sure that somebody looks after you as well, hopefully someone who’s trying to keep in shape, too.

6. Avoid going to too many parties Partying means lots of food (the unhealthy type) and alcohol—both of which play a huge part in weight gain for a typical college student. Since people often, if not always, over eat when they go to parties, you need to carefully choose the parties you attend and say no to the rest. Going to less parties will benefit your health as well as your studies and overall well-being. Keeping away from the Freshman 15 is not difficult but it does include discipline. Deciding to live a healthy lifestyle will not only benefit you during college but after college as well. Tips for Educating Students without Financial Worries

Because of current economic misbalances, everyone worries about financial stability. Student life is also not safe from these worries; continuing to higher education to achieve better career prospects is too expensive in today’s world. Managing their money properly can help the student lead to freedom from financial worries. Below are some tips to manage money during student life:
Control your money by making a proper financial plan. This consists of 3 steps:

  • Know your financial goals
  • Plan to reach them.
  • Stick to the plan till you achieve these goals.

Expense vs. earnings:

Control your expense and spend less than you earn as this helps you to keep out of debt and save for the future.

Do you need it?:

When you are out shopping before buying something think and ask yourself “Do I really need this?” and “Is there a cheaper alternative?” try to find difference between necessity and luxury.

Keep emergency money:

Manage an emergency fund by saving a small amount in savings account from your pay cheque or monthly expenses.
Make bill payments on time: pay your bills on time as this can lead you on the right track with no debt.

Live debt free life:

Pursue debt free life by controlling your expenses and spend money wisely.

Opt short term loan:

At times of emergency choose a short term payday loan instead of long term loan. These loan save you from long term debt by repayment on next pay day. Repayment of these can also help improve your credit score.

Manage your credit card:

Keep only one major credit card and don’t cross the credit limit. If you are too tempted and can’t stop yourself to shop unnecessarily, it’s better to keep credit in storage or cut it up. Don’t use a credit card for a cash advance as this can be more costly in the long run.

Beware from credit pusher:

Keep a distance from company who provide easy credit scheme with huge interest. They can lead you to never ending debt.

Guard your vital information:

Do not provide information such as bank account number, credit card pin, social security number and so on to anyone without a proper reason.  Such info should be provided only to known and trusted sources.

Reduce your health expenses:

Eat healthy food and do regular exercise. Hit the gym whenever you have free time or walking few miles will do well. These habits will keep you healthy and minimise your health expenses.
