7 Creative Ways to Use QR Code for Business

I have done some researches about the QR code. It shows me it's very common in Japan and Korea, but it's not so popular in America and other countries. However, I strongly believe that QR codes can be one of the most useful things in the future.

What is a QR code?
A QR code is a 2-D barcode that can be scanned by a smart phone's camera and transfer information. Based on the type of code it is, it might direct the viewer to a website, make a phone call, deliver a vCard or more.
You may have seen some photos like the picture above. That's an example of QR codes. If you have a smartphone, you can install the QR code app to scan the code. And you will find that it shows the domain of Student Club!

Now, let's talk about the thesis.

What are the benefits of QR code for business?

How to use QR code for business?

1. First of all, I need to say that QR code looks more professional for your business. People will think your company is creative. If they don't know what the QR code is, they may go to ask you for questions. It will give you more chances to connect with your customers.
2. You don't need to print massive information in your business card. People can know all your information(Company's name, phone number, fax number, what your business is, your photos, email address, your work ID, Facebook like button, your blah blah blah.) for a simple picture QR code. Sounds great, right?

3. If you sell lots of different kinds of things in your business, and you can't remember all the information about them, you will find your best friend QR code can do all the things for you. You can put all the keywords in your QR codes, and once you need them, just scan them.

4. When your clothes store is closed, your goods can be still saled through QR codes+online shopping.

5. You can put lots of QR codes on lots of things.(gifts, books, clothes, bussiness cards, cars, water bottles...)

6. You can know your hottest goods in your store. How? You can use QR codes connection services and know how many customers scan the code, how long do they read.

7. You can make your business more attractive with creative QR codes. I have some attractive QR codes below.

Student Club: The History of Columbia

The History of Columbia
Columbia University was founded in 1754 as King's College by royal charter of King George II of England. It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the state of New York and the fifth oldest in the United States.

Controversy preceded the founding of the College, with various groups competing to determine its location and religious affiliation. Advocates of New York City met with success on the first point, while the Anglicans prevailed on the latter. However, all constituencies agreed to commit themselves to principles of religious liberty in establishing the policies of the College.

In July 1754, Samuel Johnson held the first classes in a new schoolhouse adjoining Trinity Church, located on what is now lower Broadway in Manhattan. There were eight students in the class. At King's College, the future leaders of colonial society could receive an education desied to "enlarge the Mind, improve the Understanding, polish the whole Man, and qualify them to support the brightest Characters in all the elevated stations in life." One early manifestation of the institution's lofty goals was the establishment in 1767 of the first American medical school to grant the M.D. degree.

The American Revolution brought the growth of the college to a halt, forcing a suspension of instruction in 1776 that lasted for eight years. However, the institution continued to exert a significant influence on American life through the people associated with it. Among the earliest students and trustees of King's College were John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States; Alexander Hamilton, the first secretary of the treasury; Gouverneur Morris, the author of the final draft of the U.S. Constitution; and Robert R. Livingston, a member of the five-man committee that drafted the Declaration of Independence.

The college reopened in 1784 with a new name—Columbia—that embodied the patriotic fervor that had inspired the nation's quest for independence. The revitalized institution was recognizable as the descendant of its colonial ancestor, thanks to its inclination toward Anglicanism and the needs of an urban population, but there were important differences: Columbia College reflected the legacy of the Revolution in the greater economic, denominational, and geographic diversity of its new students and leaders. Cloistered campus life gave way to the more common phenomenon of day students who lived at home or lodged in the city.

In 1857, the College moved from Park Place, near the present site of city hall, to Forty-ninth Street and Madison Avenue, where it remained for the next forty years. During the last half of the nineteenth century, Columbia rapidly assumed the shape of a modern university. The Columbia School of Law was founded in 1858. The country's first mining school, a precursor of today's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, was established in 1864 and awarded the first Columbia Ph.D. in 1875.

Why Do We Need Low-carbon Lifestyle

Nowadays, there are a considerable number of individuals who prefer to lead a low-carbon lifestyle which find expression in the fact that more and more commuters are using public transportation system in their daily life.

Low carbon lifestyle can endow us and our society with numerous benefits. Firstly, it goes beyond doubt that low carbon lifestyle contributes a lot to the environmental protection and it is a favorable way to slow down the rate of climate change of our earth, which also means a lot to our health. We are supposed to undertake the responsibility to lead a low-carbon lifestyle, which is of great significance. And there is a diversity of measures we can take so as to lead such an environmental-friendly life. For one thing, we are expected to minimize the use of private cars, which emit a large amount of greenhouse gases. For another, we are supposed to cultivate the public awareness of energy conservation for energy in the world today is decreasing rapidly. For instance, we can turn off electrical appliances if not necessary as well as using renewable materials. Furthermore, at our leisure, we can seek opportunities to plant more trees which can absorb carbon-dioxide.

In brief, low-carbon lifestyle is nothing but the best choice for us and only in this way can we form a harmonious relationship with the environment.

Should You Prepare SAT Yourself?

Q:
I'll be taking the SAT this spring. I've been a very good student in high school. Should I take a special course to prepare for this test, or get ready on my own? Most of the courses in this area are fairly expensive, and I have limited funds.
A:
Before students even think about how they will prepare for the SAT, they need to know what scores are needed to be admitted to the colleges they are considering. By going online to individual colleges, you usually can find the range of scores that freshmen who were admitted last year had. Once you have this information, you should take the free SAT practice test in the SAT Preparation Booklet or online at the College Board website (www.collegeboard.org). After completing the test and getting your estimated score, you will have a good picture of how much preparation, if any, you'll need to get the scores you want.
If your scores are already at the level you wish to achieve or close to it, you may be able to prepare for the test on your own. However, if you need to substantially improve your scores, you may find it helpful to take an SAT preparation course either online or locally. The choice you make depends on your ability to work independently.
The College Board, the creator of the SAT, has an online SAT study guide. It offers 10 practice tests with your estimated scores, a review of test concepts and test-taking approaches. There is a fee for this guide. You will find many other online preparation websites for the SAT. No matter how much preparation you need, it is essential that you become very familiar with the test format so you know what to expect on test day.

Tips to Improve SAT Vocabulary Skills

How to Improve Your SAT Vocabulary Skills

The SAT's emphasis on vocabulary isn't as strong as it once was, but good SAT vocabulary skills will still help you earn a high score on the SAT.

Learn SAT Vocabulary in Context

The best way to improve your SAT vocabulary skills is to read SAT-level material like The Wall Street Journal or your favorite novel. As you read, follow these steps:
  1. When you come across a word you don't know, pause.
  2. Write down the word.
  3. Look up the word's definition, and write down the definition.
  4. Make a mental note about how the your newly learned word was used.
  5. Continue reading, and repeat steps 1-4 for any other new words.
As you are finding words while you read, you'll be amazed at how many unfamiliar words you come across! By following the above method you'll retain SAT vocabulary words much better than if you were to memorize words from a list. Reading will also help you prepare for SAT reading comprehension, which comprises the bulk of yourSAT Critical Reading section score.

Learn Words from SAT Vocabulary List

Although learning SAT vocabulary in context is the best way to learn words, some might not have enough time to read a lot. In this case, learning vocabulary in from a list is the best way. Learning from a list is the quickest way to improve SAT vocabulary.
Here's a weekly routine to learn words from a list:
Day 1-2Study 30-50 words a day.
Day 3Don't try to learn any new words. Review the words you went over the past two days.
Day 4-5Study 30-50 words a day.
Day 6Don't try to learn any new words. Review the words you went over this week.
Day 7Take a break.
If you follow this routine, by one month you'll have memorized about 800 words! The hardest part of learning SAT vocabulary from a word list is that it can get pretty boring. Try to mix it up your routine with flash cards or try to do useful vocabulary exercises from SAT practice books.
