The Problem(issue) With Virgin's Motorola Triumph

To be honest, Motorola Triumph is one of the best deal phones now. Motorola Triumph has 1Gz CPU, huge Ram and runs Android 2.2 too. The most important thing is that Triumph is from Virgin mobile, which means you can get 300 talk, unlimited text and unlimited internet for just 35 dollars(if you are a old supporter to Virgin mobile like me, you will just pay 25dollars.) So we can barely complain about it, but there's still one problem with it.

I found a problem with it.
Screen flicker. Once I found my phone has the problem with screen flicker when I unlock it. I did a research that many guys have the same issue. You may not notice it in bright place or under sunshine. But you may notice that at the night or dark place.
After I found this problem, I went to Bestbuy and got a new one. This one looks perfect, and it doesn't have any problem yet.

Some guys think the battery is not enough for them. But I think it's enough for me. I use it surf the internet around one hour a day, and I don't play games. It can last more than 1 day.

How to Destroy/Master SAT Essays

How to Master the SAT Essay

Strong writing skills are always important, but a few helpful tips can help even the weakest wordsmiths crack a high score on the SAT's newest section.

Hey parents, remember back when you were in high school and it came time to take the SAT?

Remember all those hours you spent studying... taking practice test after practice test... writing sample essay after sample essay, so you'd be ready when it was time for the real thing...

What's that you say? You never had to write an essay for the SAT?

Well, that makes sense, because the essay section of the test wasn't instituted until 2005. And while it only counts for 10% of your total SAT score, it very well may be the most useful section of the test.

That's because the writing skills it helps to hone are critically important to any student wishing to be successful in college, where papers are assigned on an almost weekly basis.

Today I'll offer a few tips on how to craft a killer SAT essay that'll help your student prepare for having to think on their feet when it comes to college writing assignments.

Don't over think it.

You only get 25 minutes to write the SAT essay and it comes right at the start of the test. Don't spend too much time trying to craft a scholarly masterpiece. Most important is to read and make sure you understand the writing prompt, which is usually a famous quote, or a stated idea.

For instance, here's a prompt from the January 2011 version of the test...

Think carefully about the issue presented in the following excerpt and the assignment below.

Idealistic people, people who pursue great ideas in hopes of changing the world, often have ambitious plans that are difficult or even impossible to carry out. These people can claim few solid accomplishments. In contrast, practical people concentrate on workable ideas and goals, even though these may not meet an idealist's high standards. Their approach is likely to be more valuable than the approach of idealistic people.

Assignment:

Is an idealistic approach less valuable than a practical approach? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Read over the prompt and question several times in order to make sure you know what they're asking.

Then organize your thoughts quickly and begin writing. Students shouldn't worry about making it a perfect piece of writing or the most original thought every put on paper. The people reading your student's essay know they're on a time crunch. They're simply looking for competent writing, insight and the ability to think on their feet.

Use real-world examples to illustrate your points.

Nothing will prove to a scorer more that your student understands the point of the question than if they're able to use examples from current events or history to back up their opinion.

Make sure your student attempts to include this kind of proof in their essay.

If your student can't come up with examples to back up one opinion, it doesn't hurt to take the opposite viewpoint and see if they may have more luck there.

Remember this isn't a declaration of a life philosophy. Even if they don't personally agree with what they're writing, it may make for a better more thorough essay if they go against their instincts.

Go long... but not TOO long.

A good length for an SAT essay should be four to five well developed paragraphs.

Don't let your student think that quantity automatically equals quality. There's always going to be the temptation to write a novel in hopes that the scorers will be impressed with how much you were able to get done in a short period of time.

But a good score will almost always be more likely if the essay is well plotted, well thought out and backs up its points intelligently... and all of that can be done in five paragraphs or so.

Also if your student is writing a 3-page essay, that probably means they didn't take sufficient time to brainstorm and organize their assignment. 25 minutes is more than enough time to do this, plus compose a 5-paragraph essay worthy of a good score.

And remember to leave time at the end to review for any glaring errors or omissions.

Don't stress out... it's only 10%!

While the essay section of the SAT is one of the most useful and applicable sections to future college life, don't allow your student to get TOO hung up on it.

Good writing skills are always a huge advantage for students. But even if they're not quite present yet at the time of the SAT, they can always be developed down the road. If writing isn't your student's strong suit, make sure they know that they still have 90% of the SAT left to make up for it.

Don't allow their stress to negatively affect their performances on other sections of the test as well.

Set the correct expectation that every part of the SAT is important... and there are always opportunities to make up for weaker sections as they go.

History Homework: Review Of "the Children of Huang Shi"

This movie tells people a story about a man called George Hogg, who is a reporter and helps the children build a new family in Huang Shi. This was a true story, and it happened in World War Two. The Japanese said they were trying to help China, and make China nicer, but in fact, they were trying to take over China. They are very rude to Chinese, especially in the Capital of China called Nanking.

Mr. Hogg wants to tell the world the truth about China, and he pretends a Red Cross supply group with his partner who also wants to go to the capital Nanking. After they get the passport, they start their journey. When Mr. Hogg arrives at Nanking, he found it’s totally a lie that the news outside China. The Japanese are very cruel to Chinese even the little kids. He sees the Japanese put all the Chinese together and kill all of them at one time by machine gun. And his partner is killed as well even he has the passport. Then he met the soldier in the Communist Party of China called Hansheng Chen and a nurse who helps Chinese children a lot. Mr. Hogg is sent to the place where the children live, and learn a lot new things from them. Because of the war, their place is taken over by the nationalist party. They must move to Huang Shi, which is far from there, but they have no choice either. Then the harder journey began. They need to overcome the nature challenge, their body health and Japanese as well. Unfortunately, Mr. Hogg is died because of the lockjaw. But he will never be forgotten by people. He lives in people’s memory.

This film’s background is really great and one of the greatest strengths in the film. The beginning is happened in Nanking, which is the capital of China that age and got a huge slaughter from Japan. It can show how rude the Japanese are and the strong reason of moving to Huang Shi. If the movie doesn’t have the background, it will make people feel it’s unbelievable and hard to understand. But after people know the background, they will believe the movie.

The other one of the film’s greatest strengths is the journey of moving to Huang Shi is very hard. If the journey is very easy, it will show nothing important, everyone can do it, nothing special. But the truth is the journey is very hard that even the tough soldiers can’t believe it. But they are brave to do it. And the leader of the children is Mr. Hogg, which is very brave and general. The hardship of the journey shows how great Mr. Hogg, and the children are.
I found the greatest weakness of the movie is how Ms. Wang trying to save Mr. Hogg’s life from the nationalist party. The officer of the nationalist is very ignorant and rude just like Japanese. He said Mr. Hogg is China’s enemy, and they need to put Mr. Hogg into the jail. It looks, he is a very great man. But finally, he releases Mr. Hogg because Ms. Wang promised to have sex with the officer. The officer is the real enemy of China. He is very awful that people can’t stand it.
One of the biggest biases in the movies is how Japanese treat Chinese. Japanese regard Chinese as animals, they don’t really care if Chinese are alive or dead, they just kill them when they want. They can destroy anything around Chinese, they want. They easily destroy the supplies from pure people.

The other part of the biases is that when Mr. Hogg first comes to the children how the children treat Mr. Hogg. The children think Mr. Hogg is the enemy who wants to take over their place subconsciously. All the children are hurt a lot form the foreigner enemy, it’s very hard for them to believe there is still any good foreigner wanting to help them. They beat Mr. Hogg, rude to Mr. Hogg and destroying Mr. Hogg’s achievement. It looks like a tragedy for people. But after Mr. Hogg showed his honest. The children begin to trust him and love him. This is a biases show how great Mr. Hogg is and how deeply the children are hurt by others.

I will strongly recommend this film to my friend who is looking forward to learning more about world war two. It’s a really good source to show what happened in China during the world war two, how rude the Japanese treat Chinese. Furthermore, this movie is not fiction. This movie is made from the truth. And the children of Huang Shi are still alive today. It’s a great believable movie as well.
