I Found One Other Really Good Resource For Learning English (For International Students)

I Found One Other Really Good Resource to Learn English (For International Students)

I just found the really cool stuff last night. The tool’s name is Podcast. It’s basically an individual radio station, but you can easily choose the subject you are interested in. It’s usually commercial free (Podcast). I know Podcast a long time ago. However, I never really used it, I didn’t even try that before because I thought it may be boring and expensive.

Last night, when I used iTune to sync with my iPad, I used Podcast by accident. I found there are many categories which I am interested in. (e.g. Business, Health, Science, Sports) Then I tried one which I like. I found it’s really amazing because there are many interesting stuffs there and it’s totally free. I don’t need to search the Listening resource desperately anymore now. I can easily grab my iTune and then choose one subject I like. On the one hand, I can practice my English. On the other hand, I can get lots of knowledge from listening to it.

Now, I plan to listen to one subject every night before I go to bed. I really like it, it’s like a free audio book and helps me a lot in my listening skills. And I really hope it can help you too.
You can easily get Podcast in iTune iPod, iPhone, iPad or Podcast.com.

If you know some other good resource to learn English, please tell us. We can post your articles in inFvalue as well.

Enjoy:-)

I Destroyed My Plan Again...By Kun

I have planned my summer schedule last three days ago. I plan to spend the whole summer in the study. At the beginning, although I didn’t follow all the schedules. It was alright. At the second day, I followed the totally schedule until dinner time, and then I follow my instinct instead. I have a trifle list, and I have a specific time to do those trifles.
The trifle last night was to change my blog’s template. I plan to finish the change in several times not just in one day. However, when I began doing it, I found I couldn’t stop doing it anymore. I want to have it done at one time. I want it to be perfect. I was enjoying doing it. Then I follow the instinct until today 3am. I went to bed is not because I am too tired (actually I am too tired, but it’s not the reason that I went to bed), the reason is I have finished the blog adjacent.
Then I was weak up at around 9:00 o’clock, I usually get up at 6:30. And I felt so tired this morning. I destroyed my schedule last night and this morning. I will do lots of stupid things when I stay late and feel faint. I know I’m regret with it but the important thing is to find the solution. I have made the same problem many times before. It’s really hard for me to control my instinct.
However, I know I must overcome the challenge. I must destroy my instinct. I know I’m regret with it but the important thing is to find the solution. The solution is when my schedule-bell ring. I must stop to do my next schedule immediately. I can’t say “just a minute”, ”hold on”,”” to myself.

Let me get some fresh air and start my plan again. Never give up.

4 Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs(How many do you know?)

4 Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs

by GEORGE AMBLER

I came across a great article based on Carmine Gallo’s new book, “The Innovation Secrets of Steve Jobs” which are as follows:
1.    Put a Dent in the Universe: “Innovation requires a team and you cannot inspire evangelists unless you offer a compelling vision….”
2.    Sell Dreams, Not Products: “Steve Jobs doesn’t rely on focus groups. "Steve Jobs avoids most focus groups like the plague," says tech analyst Rob Enderle. "It comes down to the very real fact that most customers don’t know what they want in a new product." Apple customers should be glad Jobs doesn’t do focus groups. If he had, they may never have enjoyed iPods, iTunes, the iPhone, the iPad, or Apple Stores. Jobs doesn’t need focus groups because he understands his customers really, really well. Yes, sometimes better than they know themselves!… Sure, "listen" to your customers and ask them for feedback. Apple does that all the time. But when it comes to breakthrough success at Apple, Steve Jobs and his team are the company’s best focus group. Asked why Apple doesn’t do focus groups, Jobs responded: "We figure out what we want. You can’t go out and ask people ‘what’s the next big thing?’ There’s a great quote by Henry Ford. He said, "If I’d have asked my customers what they wanted, they would have told me ‘A faster horse.’"”
3.    Say No to 1,000 Things: “Steve Jobs once said the secret to innovation comes from "Saying no to 1,000 things." In other words, Jobs is as proud of what Apple chooses not to do as he is about what Apple chooses to focus on.  This philosophy has helped Apple introduce products that wow consumers because of their elegance and simplicity…”
4.    Create Insanely Great Experiences: “There are no cashiers at an Apple Store. There are specialists, creatives — even geniuses — but no cashiers. Although the Apple Stores have no commissioned sales staff, they generate more revenue per square foot than most other widely recognized brands. Why? According to Jobs, "People don’t want to just buy personal computers anymore. They want to know what they can do with them, and we’re going to show people exactly that…"

Reflecting on the above four innovation secrets, the one that stands out for me is the ability of Steve Jobs to understand what the customer actually wants and not just what the customerneeds. It is this the unique ability of great leaders, to gain deep insight into their constituents and to provide a vision, purpose and dream that speaks to their unspoken desires and aspirations. Just as a changing context allows new and innovative products to be created and become successful. A changing context calls for new kinds of leaders and new approaches to leadership. A shifting context, shapes the expectations of followers and demands new approaches to leadership…!
§  How is the context changing around you?
§  What does that mean for the kinds of leaders people need?
§  What changes do you need to make in your or your organisation’s leadership?

(Original)How to make your Pc's home screen looks clean and help you get more things done? By inFvalue

inFvalue learned the really useful way to list the stuffs on our screen from one of my favorite teachers.
1: Divide the home screen in four pieces

2: The verticality means "Hurry", the horizontal character stroke means "Important"

3: Usaully, we do both Hurry&Important firstly, Hurry secondly, Important thirdly, neither Hurry nor Important fourthly.

I have attached the picture in the post, you can download it and set as home screen.

(Original) Super awesome tools for memorizing new words (language learner) By infvalue

Super awesome tools for memorizing new words (language learner) By Kun

Today, I'm going to show you guys a really cool stuff which is called Supermemo. Basically, it's an app that help you memorize new words and study new articles. How it works? Well, as you have known, there is a rule called Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve. In other words, you can just study in some specific time instead of study every day. Supermemo has a really amazing story, and it may be older than you. If you want to know more, you can go to Wiki for help.
I'm going to tell you how I use Supermemo for studying English.

First, I want to tell you how I met Supermemo. I am a junior now, and I need to prepare SAT for the next year, so I began to memorize words as many as I can. I plan to memorize 200 words every day. At the first day of my plan, I found it's very hard for me to remember those new words. I can just barely remember almost 100 hundreds words, which are far from my goal. Then I stopped my plan and tried to find if there’s some tool, I can use. (Good Plan+ Good Tools= Success :-)

Then, I found two apps that can help me remember words. One of them is Anki (
暗记:It means “memorize” in Japanese). The other one is Supermemo. I will list the differences between Anki and Supermemo below, and you can decide which one you want to use.

Anki may be more popular than Supermemo because of its simple and beautiful template. If you are the first time to use this kind tool, you’ll find you can easily use it without looking through the Help. And there has already been lots of word lists in their website. You can easily download it from Anki for free. You can also make your own dictionary. Anki’s apps for mobile phones are much better than Supermemo. They have the apps for almost every kind smart phone. However, the only defect of Anki is the code (We can regard it as the app’s Brain) is a very old version from Supermemo (SM2), and Supermemo’s code is higher than SM7. However, there are still many Anki’s fans think it doesn’t matter. It’s hard to say which one is better.

Supermemo has a really long history and reputation for its function. The latest version for PC is UX and 2008. It’s a challenge to use Supermemo 2008, the template looks too difficult, and you may give it up without looking at it again. But Supermemo UX is a pretty one. It looks simple and fancy too. It looks more beautiful than Anki in some words. I began to use SM UX first. SM UX is free, but you need to buy the word lists from its website. Nevertheless, I don’t want to buy the word lists which I don’t like. So I began to search how to make my own word lists. The first word list I wanted to make is SAT Barron 800. It’s harder to make SM word lists than Anki's lists. The word list format should be Q&A, for example:
Q: abate
A: vt.
使(数量、程度等)减少, 减轻 = wane = annihilate = eradicate = exterminate = extirpate; (法令等)被废除 = abolish

To be continued
