                                                The Process of Battleship

     Every country wants to become the superpower of the world, and it all depends on the military strength. In the 19th century, the controlling force of the sea was extremely important to the race. And that's why British which were the leader of sea force started making Dreadnought.

     The international battle ship arms-race began in 1890s, and Dreadnought was developed during that period. Dreadnoughts are a big jump in battle ship-arm, and they are extremely different from the previous battle ships. "All-big-gun" is one of Dreadnoughts' features. The previous battle ships have many different sizes of guns which included 12, 4.7 and 7.5 inches. But later "all-big-gun" was accomplished in Dreadnought because heavy guns offer advantages in both fire power and fire control. Propulsion of Dreadnoughts is also different from previous battle ships. Although the first generation of Dreadnoughts was propelled by steam engines which was used in the previous battle ship also, it changed into a geared turbine later because the battle ship propelled by a steam engine was very slow and not efficient(ship short range) at all. The fuel of Dreadnoughts reached a big improvement too. Previous battle ships were fueled by coals which had many disadvantages, such as labor-intense, inefficiency and production of black smoke which can give away the position of the fleet. So they changed they changed Dreadnoughts into oil-fired which can reduce smoke, make the ship less visible, no stoker, and more efficiency because of the high thermal content. The new battle ship Dreadnought is better, faster and stronger.

Criticism Makes Us Better

      

     Most people don't like to accept criticism and say they'll do better if there isn't any criticism because they feel embarrassed by criticism. But the truth is we must need criticism and it's the most efficient way to make us better. It's like awful medicines, but the patient must take those.

     The criticism is like one measurement which can help people know how good he is and help him reach more improvements. Mr. Jobs who is one of the greatest inventors in this century likes criticizing a lot. He is either highly criticized own his own designs or his employs'. They did hundreds different designs before iPhone came out. He always criticizes his employs' designs extremely directly without euphemisms because he thinks it's the fastest way to improve the designs. Later, the success of iDevices proves the necessity of criticism. Great success needs great criticism, and the more criticism, the better it'll be.

     Many people don't feel happy when they receive criticism, but they'll appreciate about that. They know the people who criticize them are trying to help them and make them reach more success. There is always a group of critics in American Idols which is a talent show and help people even more talented. People who go to the competition are extremely good at their areas, but no one is perfect. All of them need to fetch more improvements in some specific skills. And that's the reason why the critics are there. In other words, criticism does help people know better about themselves and become better.

     People need criticism even they already reach great success because that's the way to become better and keep success. In Tang Dynasty, emperor Taizong who is one of the greatest emperors in China's history was eager for criticism. He was full of knowledge and wisdom, but he always asked for criticism for his deploys, especially Weizheng. Weizheng always criticized emperor Taizong directly without much euphemism, and makes the emperor Taizong embarrassed. However, emperor Taizong never punished him, but gave him higher officer instead because the emperor Taizong knew that good advice is harsh to the ear.

     In conclusion, we need criticism and we need to know criticism is the most efficient way to make us better. Although criticism makes us embarrassed, but we'll feel extremely happy when we become better from criticism. It's time to wake up, and find the criticism of us now.

the Commons Sense Is Usually Wrong

     Common sense should always be doubted by us. It's usually made up of some individuals for some specific goals because the individuals know common sense is the best way to make people credule and control them. The Nazis and Culture Revolution in China are proofs that the common sense is doubtful and harmful.

     In the World War II, Nazis were very enthusiasm in the common sense that exterminated all the Jewish. They tried so hard to find every Jewish and put them in the camp. The Nazis got lots of ways to exterminate the Jewish, such as burn, drugs, gas and so on. The Nazis lost their minds, and they didn't regard the Jews as human beings or even lower than animals. They just tried to find the most horrible way and the fastest way to exterminate. Many Jews tried to escape from their claws. No one wanted to die there. But the common sense was totally wrong, it's crazy and relentless. No one has the rights to exterminate others, and the Jews didn't do anything wrong.

     During 20th Century in China, China started a revolutionary wave called Culture Revolution. People in China who said anything good about capitalism and do something similar to capitalism would be regarded as renegades. It doesn't matter whether they're generals or poor kids. People would criticize them and put them in jail. Even He Long who is one of the most famous generals in China died in the Culture Revolution. The common sense was a big fault in the history. The chinese just followed the common sense without a thought. They should accept the new good things no matter where they came from.

     In conclusion, common sense is usually wrong, and doubtful. As we all knew now, the common sense that the Nazis believed is from Hitler; the common sense in the Culture Revolution is from the mind of Mao. In other words, common sense is usually made from some ideas of individuals. But individuals can be wrong and doubtful whether they are great or not.

I robbed the Woods --
The trusting Woods.
The unsuspecting Trees
Brought out their Burs and mosses

Analysis:

Poem 41: The tone of this poem makes me
feel sad because it shows a dark side most of us have. Woods in the forest
stand for the good source most of us want. They are like money, entertainments,
benefits and so on. We just know how to be selfish and rob those things from
society or others. We don't know pay back because we are ungrateful. I also
think it may tell us what the war is. This poem can be used to explain that the
war is an action of the imperious countries who try to concur others and get as
much "treasures" as they can.
